How it works

01
Pick a place

Search a country, city or neighbourhood - or tap the locate button and Safetlas finds your district.

02
See honest numbers

Officially recorded crime per 1,000 residents, coloured within one country - never across borders.

03
Read them right

Tourist centres look worse per resident. Grey never means unsafe. Every map ships with its warning label.

Numbers can mislead. Ours come with the warning label attached.

Our methodology isn't small print - it's the product. Three rules we never break:

Compare within one country only

Countries define and record crime differently. Colours and rankings never cross borders - a Swedish number next to an Italian one is a lie with decimals.

Grey never means unsafe

Grey and hatched areas mean no reliable official data - nothing more. Most places never make the news for a reason.

Tourist areas look worse than they are

Rates are per resident. City centres host millions of visitors and few residents, which inflates their numbers - we say so right on the map.
